Kumoba Ike in Summer, Karuizawa 2024
Original Mokuhanga print I created during my residency in Japan this year in Karuizawa. I spent many hours there enjoying its serene beauty, listening to the sound of nature and sketching. It's a small edition of five, printed on Japanese washi paper with natural watercolour pigments, 31 cm by 23 cm. Bokashi (gradient) and gomazuri (texture) techniques were used to create a sense of depth and natural shapes.
Although it's an edition each of the prints has minimal differences in intensity of colours and my skills in printing it.
